Clark State to Host 14th Annual Volley for the Cure

October 26, 2021

Clark State College will host the 14th annual Volley for the Cure at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 27 in the gymnasium on the Clark State Leffel Lane campus in Springfield.

Clark State will have four teams of students, faculty and staff participating in the volleyball tournament and Bobby Fisher Distributing will compete with two teams.

All proceeds of the funds raised will go the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark County.

Gretta Runyan is co-founder of the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark County; she is a 35-year breast cancer survivor and will be in attendance at the event.

“The mission of the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund is to provide financial and emotional support to women in Clark and Champaign counties who have received a diagnosis,” said Runyan in a previous statement.

The winning volleyball team will be recognized with an award from Clark State. Additional activities include face painting, pumpkin painting, concessions, and a 50/50 raffle.

“We are honored to continue to support the efforts of the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark County,” said Nina Wiley, dean of student engagement and support services at Clark State. “By raising money and awareness we are able to help women in our communities connect with screening, services and resources.”

The Volley for the Cure event is free and open to the public. Masks are required.
