Diesel Program Receives Donated Engine

December 10, 2013

Navistar and ABF Freight System have partnered with Clark State Community College to provide diesel technology students with hands-on learning opportunities to better prepare them for the workforce. Navistar donated an engine that is valued at $20,000 and ABF Freight System transported it free of charge to the diesel lab from Illinois.

"Industry partnerships are vital to providing our students with the latest technology," said Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, president, Clark State. "We rely on our partners to keep our curriculum and equipment state-of-the-art to make sure our students are prepared to enter their chosen career fields. The generosity of Navistar and ABF Freight System enable Clark State to maintain an affordable tuition and curriculum advancement."

"This engine will prove to be a great asset for our program," said Jacob Whitt, program coordinator. "Not only will it give our students another engine to work on, but it will expose them to the emissions technology used by Navistar. This will give our students an advantage in an industry where vehicle emission control systems are used both in on-highway and off-highway applications."
