Dr. Travis Binkley Appointed Dean of Enrollment Services at Clark State

August 22, 2022

Clark State College has appointed Dr. Travis Binkley as Dean of Enrollment Services. Binkley, who has been with Clark State since 2013, will begin his new position on Monday, August 22.

The Dean, Enrollment Services position is responsible for all enrollment management services at Clark State, which includes Admissions, College Credit Plus, Career Services, Financial Aid, Records and Registration, and New Student Orientation. This position works closely with the leadership at the Regional Locations and Academic Advising to ensure consistency of services for all students.

“I’m excited about my new role and the opportunities I have to create a collaborative environment across multiple departments at Clark State that will make an impact on student success,” said Binkley. “I’m filling the role after Dr. Ron Gordon - who is now with Springfield City Schools - created several initiatives to move us in the right direction. We have a lot of work to do to continue the momentum he created, and I think we can make an even bigger impact in our service area. To say I am excited for this new role would be an understatement.”

Binkley began his tenure at Clark State as an enrollment specialist, then director of Student Services, Assistant Dean of Advising Services, and Associate Dean of Academic Services. Binkley also serves as an adjunct instructor for Business and Applied Technologies.

Binkley recently earned his Educational Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University. He completed his doctoral research on adult learners graduating with technical degrees during the pandemic and the motivational factors that helped them succeed.

“Dr. Binkley is data-driven, student centered and has a strong knowledge of relationships and support systems in regard to student success,” said Dr. Dawayne Kirkman, vice president of student affairs at Clark State. “Excellent examples of collaboration between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs have been demonstrated, as well as strategies for enrollment at our regional locations, bachelor’s degrees and College Credit Plus.”

Kirkman said as Binkley leads the Academic Advising, Admissions, Career Services, Financial Aid, and Records & Registration teams, he will be committed to refining the student onboarding process so that it meets student needs and addresses special populations.

“[Dr. Binkley] is committed to Clark State students,” he said.
