Clark State College is setting a new standard for nursing education by integrating Assist, an advanced artificial intelligence platform, across its nursing programs. Powered by Unbound Intelligence, Assist combines AI-driven technology with trusted, evidence-based medical content, enabling faculty to efficiently create high-quality teaching materials while delivering personalized, reliable learning resources that prepare students for the evolving demands of today’s health care workforce. Through a pilot program, faculty reported saving more than five hours per weektime now redirected toward student instruction, advising, remediation and individualized support—while streamlining curriculum development, enriching classroom engagement and responding more effectively to the needs of students, both individually and as a group.

Currently a faculty-facing tool used to support both the registered nursing and licensed practical nursing programs, nursing leadership and faculty have been actively testing Assist in classrooms since the fall of 2024 to enhance teaching effectiveness and make real-time curriculum adjustments. This allows instructors to reinforce key concepts, address gaps and improve learning outcomes across both programs. While the tool is directed by faculty, students benefit through higher-quality instruction, increased faculty availability and more responsive, learner-centered courses.

“Our goal is to prepare entry-level nurses who provide safe, high-quality care, and Assist helps students develop critical thinking and prioritize patient needs in real time,” said Scott Dolan, Ph.D., dean of Clark State’s school of nursing. “By integrating this technology, we’re building on our strong outcomes, program expansions and long-standing reputation for producing practice-ready nurses. Assist is being adopted nationwide by leading health care organizations to strengthen educational outcomes and improve access to accurate clinical guidance. Our implementation of assist solidifies Clark State’s role as a leader in nursing education.”

On Jan. 27, Dolan and Clark State nursing faculty will discuss the college’s experience using artificial intelligence in nursing education during a panel with Unbound Medicine. The session will highlight the college’s vision for AI, key lessons learned and early successes benefiting both faculty and students.

Home to the largest licensed practical nursing program in the state of Ohio, Clark State offers a comprehensive continuum of nursing credentials, allowing students to advance from practical nursing and registered nursing certificates to advanced degrees. In 2025, the college began offering a bachelor’s in nursing program, further expanding opportunities for students to grow their careers and meet local workforce demand without leaving the region.
