Leadership Training

Our Leadership Training includes six sections/courses to assist you in becoming an effective leader. This training is in-person and can be held at a Clark State campus location or at your organization.

Foundations of Leadership

For individuals to be effective as leaders they must first understand the differences between being an effective manager and being an effective leader. They must also understand how their personality effects how they lead.

In this workshop participants will:

  • Understand the difference in leading versus managing.
  • Identify their DiSC personality type.
  • Recognize how personality affects how you manage others.
  • Assess their leadership style strengths and needed areas of improvement.

The Leadership Challenge

Are you up for the challenge of leading? This session will explore The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership Model as explored in the text The Leadership Challenge by Kouzes and Posner.

This course will equip participants with the ability to use the five practices of exemplary leadership:

  • Model the Way
  • Inspire a Shared Vision
  • Challenge the Process
  • Enable Others to Act
  • Encourage the Heart
  • Additional resources - The Leader

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence is defined as "the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically". There is a significant correlation between emotional intelligence and effective leadership.

Leaders will explore:

  • Emotional strengths and challenges
  • Connecting with others and demonstrating empathy
  • Building resiliency
  • Controlling emotional reactions to circumstances and individuals

Communication and Conflict Management

Communicating with varying personalities can be a daunting task. However, communication is key to building and maintaining relationships with colleagues and it is key to accomplishing objectives. Managing conflict is also a necessity for being a successful leader.

In this workshop, leaders will:

  • Determine their communication style and how it impacts their ability to lead
  • Understand and practice key techniques to becoming a great communicator
  • Learn how to effectively manage and de-escalate conflict.

Time Management and Delegation

Everyone has the same 24 hours during a day, so why is it that some can accomplish more than others? Effective time management is key to be a great leader. Great leaders prioritize, delegate and minimize the need to feel like they are "always chasing a fire".

In this workshop leaders will:

  • Learn to effectively manage and discern priorities
  • Identify barriers to effective time management
  • Explore the Eisenhower
  • Understand how to delegate and which tasks to delegate
  • Understand how to make decisions to get the most out of your time

Creating Your Leadership Brand and Building Professional Sustainability

Maintaining your status as a great leader takes ongoing time and commitment. It requires creating and maintaining a level of influence, presenting yourself with confidence and remaining focused on leadership and career development.

In this workshop leaders will:

  • Set and manage leadership and career goals and objectives
  • Develop mentoring, coaching and network relationships
  • Create a level of influence
  • Present with effectiveness and confidence
