9-1-1 COMMUNICATIONS DISPATCH ACADEMY

The 9-1-1 Communication Dispatch Academy will run Oct. 27 through Dec. 10 at the Clark State Xenia Campus, 334 Progress Drive, Suite 200. Classes will be held Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants must be at least 18-years-old with a high school diploma or GED.  No experience is necessary. Upon program completion, participants will be eligible for dispatch jobs that could pay between $25-$35 an hour, more than twice Ohio’s minimum wage

Tuition: $2,000

Prerequisites:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Complete the Dental Radiography Interest Form.
  • In order to receive certification, participants will need to show proof of hands-on training with a dental practice. 

CERTIFIED NURSE AID (CNA)

This training lasts approximately 5 weeks and meets Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. (75-hours total).  The course introduces students to the principles and procedures of basic patient care through both classroom and clinical experience. The course is regulated by the Ohio Department of Health and 100 percent attendance is required. An average of 80 percent or higher is required on quizzes and the final exam to complete the classroom section of the course and proceed to the clinical rotation.

Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be eligible to sit for the Ohio nurse aide exam. After passing both the written and skills portion of the state exam, students will meet employment qualifications required by many long-term care, home health care, clinic and hospital facilities. 

Tuition: $1,200 (include scrubs and shoes, textbook, TB 1 test fee and state test fee.

DENTAL RADIOGRAPHY

The 7-hour, non-credit Dental Radiography (Radiography for the Dental Assistant) training meets the requirements for the Ohio State Dental Board certification and covers Radiation Physics, Radiation Biology, Radiation Health Safety and Protection, X-ray Films and Radiography Film Quality.

PHLEBOTOMY

This course is 13-weeks in length and meets every Wednesday evening, 5 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Topics include basic phlebotomy principles and procedures including safety and infection control; medical terminology; basic anatomy, physiology and the circulatory system; venipuncture-procedures; complications; equipment; blood collection and quality assessment. Lab work will include blood draws under the direct supervision of the instructor. After completing the classroom and lab practice components, participants will receive a certificate of completion and will be qualified to obtain entry-level employment as a phlebotomist.
