SNAP E&T Assistance

Clark State offers financial assistance for students who are SNAP E&T participants. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Employment and Training (E&T) program is intended to assist eligible SNAP recipients to gain skills, training, work, or experience that will increase self-sufficiency.

To be eligible, students must reside in Champaign, Clark, Greene, Logan or Montgomery counties and be enrolled in a degree or certificate that aligns with an in-demand occupation as identified by OhioMeansJobs.

Eligible Expenses May Include:

  • Automobile Repairs
  • Books/Course Materials
  • Child Care
  • Dental Care (minor work such as a cleaning)
  • Gasoline
  • Transportation (public transportation fares)
  • Vision Needs (eye glasses or eye exam)

If approved for SNAP E&T funding, students must purchase their Spring 2024 textbooks within the dates below.

Eligibility Requirements

Assistance is granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.

CURRENT STUDENT:

Maximum award not to exceed $750 for students who meet the following criteria:

  • Must have a 2.0 GPA or higher
  • Be currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours
  • Have completed one term at Clark State College
NEW STUDENT:
  • Maximum award not to exceed $400 for students who meet the following criteria:
  • Be currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours

Application Process

Complete and submit the Office of Student Support Referral Form.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, your name, contact information, birthdate, degree/certificate, area of need and the number of currently enrolled credit hours will be sent to Job and Family Services in your county of residence. If you do not currently receive SNAP assistance, you will be required to complete and submit the Ohio Department Job and Family Services Application for Cash, Food, or Medical Assistance. Your funding request cannot be processed without a completed Application for Cash, Food, or Medical Assistance.

Follow-up:

You will receive an email, within one to three business days, regarding next steps.

Payments

If you are approved for textbook assistance, we will work with you to purchase your textbooks. We will make payment arrangements for other SNAP E&T eligible expenses. You will have the option to either pick up a check or one can be mailed directly to the vendor.
