Clark State Designated as Top Ten Military Spouse Friendly School, Ranked Third in Nation

August 21, 2023

Clark State College was named to the Nation’s Top Ten Military Spouse Friendly Schools® for 2023-24. Military Friendly® Awards provide a more competitive view of how an organization is performing compared with similar organizations. Clark State earned the ranking of #3 in the Small Community College category.

“Clark State is celebrating our most recent designation as a Military Spouse Friendly School. Top Ten is the highest ranking a school can receive,” said Diana Seaman, registrar at Clark State. “This honor confirms our commitment to support our military members, their spouses and families. This designation is in addition to receiving ‘Gold’ status as a Military Friendly School back in March.”

Institutions earning the Military Friendly® Schools Awards designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Over 1,800 schools participated in the 2023-2024 survey.

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in higher education. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey responses and government/agency public data sources within a logic-based assessment. We measure their ability to meet thresholds for Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Repayment, Persistence, and Loan Default rates for all students and specifically, for student veterans.

Clark State currently serves United States military veteran students, active military students, National Guard and Reserve students, dependents, and military spouses.

Clark State received the designation of Top School in the 2018 Military Advanced Education & Transition (MAE&T) Guide to Colleges & Universities. This honor is awarded to institutions with the very best practices in military- and veteran-supportive education.

In 2015, Clark State was designated as a Purple Heart Campus and was approved by the Community College of the Air Force as a General Education Mobile (GEM) partner. Clark State was the first community college in Ohio to receive this approval. The College also features a Veterans Lounge that provides student veterans with a place to unwind, study, hold meetings or network.

Clark State students have also been inducted into the SALUTE National Honor Society. SALUTE – Service, Academics, Leadership, Unity, Tribute, Excellence - is the only national honor society recognizing and honoring the service and scholastic achievements of student veterans.

We are proud to offer a 50% reduced tuition rate to all active duty, reserve, Ohio National Guard, and their spouses.
