Clark State Community College Financial Aid Director Suzanne Harmon has been credentialed by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) as a certified financial aid administrator.

Harmon was required to pass an exam in order to obtain this certification. She said the certified financial aid administrator designation is a relatively new effort by the NASFAA to provide career growth opportunities to financial aid professionals.

“There are minimum qualifications to take the exam for the certified financial aid administrator credential and then there are activities and other training opportunities to add to the financial aid professional’s professional growth and resume,” said Harmon.

As defined by NASFAA, the certified financial aid administrator program is a certification in financial aid administration that covers the wide range of skills and knowledge required to perform competently in Title IV financial aid administration at any type of college or university across the country.

“I am extremely proud of Suzanne’s accomplishment,” said Dr. Theresa Felder, senior vice president of student success at Clark State. “She has proven to be a leader in the financial aid community. We are fortunate to have her at Clark State, as she is also a strong advocate for student success.”

As of October 23 of this year, there were 100 individuals designated on the certified financial aid administrator registry.

 “The training and resources offered at the state and federal level to financial aid professionals allow us to maintain compliance and to process student financial aid applications more efficiently, correctly and timely,” said Harmon.
