Clark State Fire Academy Graduation to be Held Friday, March 4

Clark State College in partnership with the Springfield Fire-Rescue Division will award 15 graduates with a Firefighter II short-term technical certification at a ceremony on Friday, March 4 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will be held in the Clark State LRC building on the main campus in Springfield.

Special awards will be presented including: Unit Citation Awards, Meritorious Service Awards, and Chief’s and Commendation Awards. State Fire Marshal Kevin Reardon is the featured guest speaker.

“The community partnership between Clark State and the Springfield Fire-Rescue Division has been outstanding,” Brian Miller, Springfield Fire Chief, said in a past statement. “Not only have the parties benefited in a meaningful and mutual way, we continue to examine opportunities to cost share and promote the education and the professional development of our members to lift both organizations and the City of Springfield.”

All graduates have secured placement with the Springfield City Fire Rescue Division. Seven graduates will remain at Clark State for 40-hours to obtain EMT Training.

Students must complete and earn the certificate from Clark State, then must successfully pass an exam administered by the Ohio Division of EMS that will be taken at Clark State.
