Clark State Community College now offers an eight-week certification course in the field of peer recovery support.

The four-credit Peer Recovery Fundamentals course will train individuals to assist with the management of mental health and/or addiction recovery and will be offered each semester throughout the year.

“Peer recovery supporters have become vital members in the workforce both in the health care and recovery fields as well as for corporations,” said Carin Burr, associate professor of social services at Clark State.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive certification from the State of Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addictions Services Board. Burr said this certification is being sought after by more employers to help their workers maintain stability and productivity.

Interested students should speak with a Clark State success coach at 937-328-6463 to find out how to secure approval for registration.

Financial support is available for eligible students through a grant from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the Federal Human Resources and Services Administration.

The Peer Recovery Fundamentals course is offered at Clark State’s Springfield and Beavercreek locations. Class space is limited.
