Clark State Performing Arts Center Executive Director Adele Adkins to Participate on Elite National Panel, Discuss Arts in the Wake of COVID-19

May 26, 2020

Adele Adkins, executive director of the Clark State Performing Arts Center (PAC), will participate on an elite national panel of performing arts center experts in a Facebook Live discussion with the Tobin Center of San Antonio, Texas, and the Proctors Theatre of Schenectady, New York.

The panel of performing arts center experts will be live on Facebook at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, and is being hosted by Degy Entertainment.

The panel will discuss plans for the return of live entertainment shows such as theater and concerts as the country begins to gradually reopen in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In the middle of a pandemic, we are adjusting and learning to present the arts in a new, impactful way while also keeping patrons safe,” said Adele Adkins, executive director of the Clark State Performing Arts Center. “I am looking forward to participating on this panel and sharing how Clark State is working to bring unique entertainment opportunities to the community, while still maintaining the true ‘live’ experience.”

Recent performances at the Clark State Performing Arts Center were canceled due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Earlier this month the PAC announced an outdoor drive-in concert featuring country singer Wyatt McCubbin on June 13. Patrons will be required to remain in their vehicles while attending the concert being held on Clark State’s main campus in Springfield.

“Ticketmaster reached out following the announcement of the drive-in concert event to let us know it is the first of its kind in the nation,” said Adkins. “We look forward to sharing these ideas with others on the panel and those watching on Facebook Live. We are striving to keep the arts alive while awaiting the day when live performances can return in full swing.”
