Clark State Performing Arts Center Offers a Variety of Entertainment in October

October 8, 2015

If you enjoy a good mystery, folk music or a colorful stage production, the Clark State Performing Arts Center, 300 South Fountain Avenue in Springfield, is the place to be in October.

“We are excited to bring three completely diverse events to Springfield,” said Adele Adkins, executive director of the Clark State Performing Arts Center.

The Aquila Theatre Company of London will present The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 15. The legendary – and surprising – sleuth Sherlock Holmes takes the stage in this witty, fast-paced production. In addition to presenting their adaptation of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, the Aquila Theatre Company of London will be presenting workshops and lectures at each Clark State campus.

Singer and songwriter Arlo Guthrie will present Alice’s Restaurant 50th Anniversary Tour at 8 p.m. Friday, October 16. The show will feature Abe Guthrie, Terry A La Berry, Bobby Sweet and Darren Todd while folk icon Guthrie brings to the stage, for the first time in a decade, The Alice’s Restaurant Massacre in its entirety.

The National Broadway Tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will come to town for a one-time performance at 3 p.m., Sunday, October 18. The show, co-presented with the Springfield Arts Council, is one of the most enduring shows of all time. Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a family musical about the trials and triumphs of Joseph, Israel’s favorite son.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat launches our new partnership with the Springfield Arts Council, one that we at Clark State are thrilled about,” said Adkins. “The arts are all about collaboration.”

Tickets are still available for these events and can be purchased by calling the ticket office at (937) 328-3874 or online at http://pac.clarkstate.edu.
