Clark State Theatre Arts Production to Hold Auditions for Spring Production

December 23, 2019

The Clark State Community College Theatre Arts program will hold auditions in January for their spring production of Urinetown. Urinetown is based on the book by Greg Kotis.

Urinetown is based in a Gotham-like city; a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he's had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom.

Urinetown catapults the "comedic romp" into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter.

Auditions will be held from 7 - 10 p.m., Monday, January 27 in the Clark State Performing Arts Center Kuss Auditorium with callbacks on January 28. Actors are requested to prepare 16 bars of song from a musical. An accompanist will be provided however, actors must bring their own sheet music. No a cappella auditions.

Urinetown performance dates are March 27 and 28 at 8 p.m., and March 29 at 2 p.m. in the Kuss Auditorium.
