Clark State Community College welcomed Max McConnell as the new coordinator of Greene County outreach.

McConnell will engage with Greene County employers, high schools and community organizations, placing a high priority on connecting with Greene County businesses and educational leaders. McConnell will develop training programs jointly between the College and local organizations, primarily the business or agency that is contracting the training, assuring that the program will match the employment needs of the client. 

“My goals for this position are to increase collaboration between Clark State and community stakeholders, such as local governments, school districts and businesses,” he said. “The ultimate goal is to expand and enhance Clark State’s brand in Greene County, and increase enrollment in programs that meet the workforce needs of our community.”

McConnell is also responsible for establishing strong community connections with area high schools, especially with guidance counselors and administration. He will interact with chambers of commerce, related civic and government organizations and individuals to help ensure community leaders and the community at-large are aware of Clark State’s presence, as well as the value we bring to the community. 

Ron Gordon, dean of enrollment services for Clark State, said McConnell’s background in economic development will be an advantage as he engages the educational and workforce communities in Greene County.

“The Greene County outreach coordinator position was created with the goal of supporting the region’s high schools and workforce development needs, as well as ensuring community leaders of Clark State’s dedication to the community, by providing quality education and job training,” said Gordon. “Max is a great addition to the Clark State team.”

McConnell holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Wright State University. He previously worked for Greene County Department of Development as an economic development coordinator.

McConnell’s office is located at the Greene Center in Beavercreek, but he will also work at the new Clark State Xenia location at the YMCA slated to open in January.
