Clark State Community College and Butler Consulting, Inc. will present “Grant Seeking Success!” at the Brinkman Educational Center on Friday, March 9.
Staff, board and volunteers of all organizations interested in learning about grant seeking, fundraising, grants and/or partnerships are invited to attend.
Attendees will understand what a grant is, the grant seeking process, a model for proposal development and tips for writing a fundable proposal; learn the “3 Rs” of grant seeking; and experience how to develop a Logic Model.
“If you plan to write grants, it is important that you understands the grant process,” said Karen R. Hunt, alumni engagement & annual fund coordinator for Clark State, “When I was tasked to write my first grant, I made a huge mistake, which outside of the grant world was not a big deal. It’s important to understand how the process works.”
In January, the Clark State Foundation joined the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)-Springfield Chapter. Linda Gatten Butler, president of Butler Consulting, will conduct the workshop.

As a licensed independent social worker supervisor (LISW-S), Linda Butler is experienced in successfully offering consultation with accrediting numerous organizations. She has experienced accreditation as a consultant and CEO/executive director. Her expertise as a social worker, consultant, therapist, executive director and teacher elevates her abilities to assist agencies to complete their accreditation process successfully.
Registration is $99 ($75 for AFP or GPA members; and $49 for Clark State, Wittenberg, Urbana, Wright State, Central State, Wilberforce, Antioch College or Antioch University Midwest students) and includes all handouts - “Measuring Program Outcomes: A Practical Approach” by United Way of America, lunch, parking and six (6) CPEs.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., on Friday, March 9. The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the fourth floor of the Clark State Brinkman Educational Center, 100 South Limestone Street in Springfield.
“Grant dollars are very limited, so you need to know how to make your organization stand out and follow the rules in writing the grant,” said Hunt who also serves on the Board of the AFP-Springfield chapter.
