Clark State Community College will begin offering the Registered Nursing program at the Greene Center campus in Beavercreek this fall semester. The day-program will feature a new, eight-bed laboratory with simulation-capable manikins.

“For several years, Registered Nursing has been the number one major at the Greene Center at the Beavercreek campus,” said Gwen Stevenson, director of nursing programs for Clark State. “Students have been able to complete the general education requirements at the Greene Center but would take classes in Springfield once accepted into the nursing program. By offering the program at the Greene Center, we are meeting the need of an in demand major.”

Clark State’s Registered Nursing program is a competitive entry program. The fall semester 2018 cohort has already been selected; the next cohort will begin fall semester of 2019, and the application period will be December 2018 through February 2019.

Students accepted into the Beavercreek cohort can complete the program at the Greene Center. Clinical requirements may include placements outside of the Beavercreek area and will be dependent on availability.

Stevenson said many students in Greene County take general education courses at the Beavercreek campus and then complete nursing classes at Clark State in Springfield. “Offering the nursing classes in Beavercreek will be of great value to many students and provide a more viable option for students located in this geographic area,” she said.

The new nursing lab can accommodate 20 students. Grandview Hospital in Columbus donated the eight laboratory beds, and a new faculty member was hired for the Greene Center program. Other health programs offered at the Beavercreek campus include Paramedic to RN, Practical Nursing and Medical Assisting.

“Clark State has a long history of providing students with a quality nursing education and contributing to the local nursing workforce,” said Stevenson. “We are excited and pleased to be able to extend our nursing program to the Beavercreek campus. We look forward to much success with this new program option.”
