Governor Makes Clark State Board of Trustees Appointments

February 12, 2015

Governor John R. Kasich appointed two new members to the Clark State Community College Board of Trustees on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. David Ball of Springfield and Maurice McDonald of Beavercreek will begin their four-year terms immediately. The Governor also reappointed R. Andrew Bell of Springfield for a second term.

“I want to thank the Governor for these appointments,” said Clark State President Dr. Jo Alice Blondin. “Our new Trustees bring a breadth and depth of experience to this Board that will benefit Clark State's mission and its students.”

Ball recently served on the Clark State Foundation Board of Directors. He is the vice president-law for Speedway Corporation in Enon, Ohio, and has been with the company for more than eight years. Ball is a graduate of the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He earned an MBA in finance from Wright State University. Ball became a certified public accountant and then earned his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University. He also served in the United States Air Force and held positions at Jones Day Reavis and Pogue, Coolidge, Wall, Womsley and Lombard and was the assistant general counsel at the Reynolds and Reynolds Company. Ball said he is looking forward to working with the Clark State Board of Trustees. “It’s a great resource and asset in the community, and we have an obligation to make the most of it,” said Ball. “I look forward to joining with them.”

Maurice “Mo” McDonald is a member of the Dayton Development Coalition. He is responsible for maintaining the partnership with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and a regional presence with all area defense installations. In addition, he is working on BRAC initiatives and is helping shape the regional UAS/UAV strategy.

Prior to joining Dayton Development Coalition, McDonald was a senior program manager at URS Corporation in Beavercreek, Ohio. He was responsible for executing URS business development, recruitment and employee retention in support of the federal government, specifically the Department of Defense.

A 1986 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, McDonald entered the Air Force and served over 21 years as a logistics and acquisitions officer. In 2007, after numerous service assignments, McDonald served at WPAFB as the deputy commander responsible for base security and services, logistics support, contracting and base military and civilian personnel management.

Gov. Kasich reappointed Bell of Springfield for a third term as a member of the Clark State Board of Trustees. He previously served as Board chairman and chair of the College’s major gifts campaign, which exceeded fundraising goals.

Bell said he is looking forward to his continued service on the Clark State Board of Trustees. “I truly believe in community colleges and Clark State in particular,” said Bell. “They have been and are the wave of the future for education in a lot of areas.”

Bell is the senior vice president of Brower Insurance and is a recognized community leader. He also serves on the oversight board for the new $11.3 million Straight A Grant for the renovation of South High School to include the Global Impact STEM Academy.
