Governor Reappoints Two to Clark State Board of Trustees

December 20, 2020

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine reappointed two members of the Clark State Community College Board of Trustees on Friday, December 18. Andy Bell and Maurice McDonald will continue their dedicated service to Clark State through 2026.

“These Board appointees all recognize the important student success mission that Clark State advances and always puts the students’ best interests first,” said Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, president of Clark State. “I look forward to continuing to work with these outstanding community and business leaders.”

Clark State’s Board of Trustees oversees the operations of the College. Trustees are appointed by the Governor of Ohio for six-year terms. Board work sessions and regular meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of each month.

Andy Bell has served Clark State for more than twenty years, first as a board member of the Clark State Foundation and currently as a member of the Board of Trustees since 2006.

“Education in general and community colleges in particular are key to helping individuals break the cycle of poverty and in developing a strong economy,” said Bell. “Community colleges, like Clark State, are able to address the skills needed by local and regional employers on a timely basis through individual certificates that address specific skills, degree programs and high school programs like College Credit Plus.”

Bell said in spite of the many attributes of community colleges, including Clark State, they all face challenges in today's world of fewer students and cutbacks in state support. “Having a strong board is essential in addressing these issues,” he said. “It is for these reasons I want to continue to serve Clark State for the next six years.”

Maurice McDonald is Vice President of P E Systems, Inc. and has served on the Clark State Board since December of 2014.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to continue to serve as a trustee on the Clark State Board,” said McDonald. “Clark State is an outstanding institution that provides an important service to the local community.”
