Project Scare-A-Crow, an annual fall tradition, returns to downtown Springfield starting October 16. Assisted by professional artist Sherry Ringler, Project Jericho families will build 12 scarecrows that depict specific careers that can be pursued through degrees and certificate programs offered at Clark State Community College.

Project Jericho families worked with Clark State professors and participated in hands-on activities that helped them learn more about exciting careers in areas like new media, geospatial technology and communication studies. Families declared a major for their scarecrow and began the building process.  

The finished scarecrows will be displayed along Main Street on the Springfield City Plaza October 16-22. The public will decide the winners by voting through paper ballots. Voting begins October 16 and ends October 22 at 12 p.m. Scarecrow winners will be announced on October 22 at 5:30 p.m. on the corner of Fountain Avenue and Main Street. The community is invited to attend.

Project Jericho is a collaborative program of Clark State Community College and Clark County Department of Job and Family Services with additional funding provided by the Ohio Arts Council and The Turner Foundation.
