Project Jericho hosted its annual Summer Arts Camp June 17-21, 2019, at Clark State Community College.  Thirty-six youth, ages 13-18 attended. 

During the week-long camp, participants learned about plants, herbs and flowers that are locally grown. Three professional artists led in-depth arts programming that explored ceramics, illustration and acrylic painting. Kim Reeder (London, OH) taught participants how to create botanical drawings and Mariah Kaminsky (Durango, CO) taught participants how to create shadow paintings of flowers on gesso boards. Geno Luketic (Waynesville, OH) taught participants how to construct hand built planters and pinch pots that will be used to house plants and flowers grown by Amanda Honeycutt, Clark State’s director of grounds & fleet in the greenhouses on campus. While the hand built planters will be fired in a traditional kiln, the ancient Japanese ceramic technique of Raku will be used to fire the pinch pots made during camp. 

On Tuesday, June 25 from 12-1:30 p.m. the community is invited to attend a celebration at the Clubhouse at Snyder Park celebrating the artwork and achievements of the 2019 Summer Arts Camp artists.

Project Jericho is a program of Clark State Community College supported through funding from Clark County Department of Job and Family Services, the Ohio Arts Council, The Turner Foundation, Clark County Juvenile Court and private contributions.
