Theatre Arts Program Receives DayTony Awards

Clark State Community College’s Theatre Arts Program received 13 awards at the annual Dayton Theatre Hall of Fame’s DayTony Awards on Saturday, August 9, 2014, in Dayton.

The Theatre Arts Program was a recipient of the prestigious Outstanding Overall Production award for their production of next to normal. This award is granted to only five productions throughout the Miami Valley. This is the second special recognition award for Clark State Community College.

Additional awards for the Theatre Arts Program for next to normal include:

  • Award of Merit: Dan Hunt for Scenic Design
  • Award of Merit: Geoffrey D. Moss for Sound Design
  • Award of Merit: Bradley Steen for Acting
  • Award of Merit: Hannah M. Berry for Acting
  • Award of Merit: James Straley for Directing
  • Award of Merit: Thomas Kushmaul, Jr. for Music Directing
  • Award of Merit: Paden Frank for Acting
  • Awards of Excellence: Dan Hunt for Lighting
  • Awards of Excellence: Mindy White for Acting
  • Troy M. Berry for Acting

The program’s production of The Great Gatsby was honored with two awards:

  • Awards of Excellence: Jamie Daugherty-Weaver for Acting
  • Awards of Excellence: Joe Lauricella for Multi-Media Design

The DayTony Awards are presented to recognize outstanding performance, whether on stage or behind the scenes at Dayton area theatres.
