Clark State Will Host Health Technologies Job Fair for Students and Alumni

Clark State Community College’s Career Services will host the annual Health Technologies Job Fair on Friday, April 6 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. This job fair gives students and alumni an opportunity to connect with local employers to learn about healthcare career opportunities. The Health Technologies Job Fair will be held in Security National Bank Community Room 207/209 in the LRC building on Clark State’s Springfield campus at 570 East Leffel Lane, Springfield.

Clark State Welcomes Math and Music Master for Two Performances

Clark State Community College will welcome violinist and mathematician Dr. David Kung to the John Legend Theater for two complimentary performances on Friday, April 6. Dr. Kung’s presentation marks the 3rd annual Spring Math Lectures provided through the Johns Hopkins University-Whiting School of Engineering and Clark State partnership. He will present “Exploring the Connections between Math and Music.”

Clark State Will Host OACC Student Success Leadership Institute, Present Cost of Poverty Experience

Clark State Community College will host the Ohio Association of Community College’s Student Success Leadership Institute (SSLI) at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center in downtown Springfield. Representatives from 23 colleges are expected to attend. Attendees will learn from state and national student success leaders and be prepared to tackle the transformational change needed to further the success of their colleges.

Pirates Invade the Clark State Performing Arts Center in Original Spring Theatre Arts Production

The Clark State Community College Theatre Arts Program will present “The Last Pirates of the Vast Golden Treasure,” an original musical-comedy written by Dan Hunt, technical director at the Clark State Performing Arts Center. The tale follows an inept band of pirates who find a note in a bottle, stumbling and singing through an adventure to aid maidens in distress, defeat evil forces, free the kingdom’s true ruler and maybe even find treasure. “The Last Pirates of the Vast Golden Treasure” will be presented at 8 p.m. April 6-7 and 2 p.m. April 8 at the Clark State Performing Arts Center.

Clark State Named Finalist for AACC Award of Excellence for CEO/Board Relations

Clark State Community College has been named a finalist for the 2018 American Association of Community College (AACC) CEO/Board Relationship Award of Excellence. The AACC Excellence Awards recognize exceptional work among the nation’s two-year colleges. The winner will be announced at the 98th Annual Convention in Dallas, Texas, April 28 – May 1.

Clark State Community College will host a Haas Technical Education Center (HTEC) Educators Conference on Friday, March 16 at the Brinkman Educational Center in downtown Springfield. HTEC conferences are a part of the Haas Commitment to Education. The mission of the HTEC is to promote and advance manufacturing and productivity through excellence in manufacturing education.

Clark State, Partners to Hold Ground Breaking Ceremony for New REACH Center in Xenia

Clark State Community College, in collaboration with the City of Xenia, Kettering Health Network, the YMCA of Greater Dayton, the Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center and Central State University will break ground on a new facility to address educational, health and workforce needs in Greene County. Clark State will offer degree and certificate programs as well as workforce training, seminars and workshops at the REACH Center.

Clark State VP Named President of Edmonds Community College

Dr. Amit Singh, provost and senior vice president of Clark State Community College, has accepted the position as president of Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood, Washington. Edmonds Community College’s extensive search for a new president began in the summer of 2017. At a special meeting held March 2, the Edmonds Community College Board of Trustees voted to offer Singh the role of the next president. He will begin on June 25 of this year and succeed former Edmonds President Jean Hernandez who retired on December 31, 2017.

Clark State’s Nora Hatem to Receive Inaugural Faculty Distinction Award from AACC

Clark State Community College Associate Professor Nora Hatem has been designated by the American Association of Community College’s as a recipient of the Dale P. Parnell Faculty Distinction Award. Hatem, associate professor and program coordinator for Clark State’s industrial and engineering programs, has worked as a faculty member at Clark State since 2008. Prior to coming to Clark State, she worked in manufacturing and secondary education, and Clark State has been the beneficiary of her expertise in both areas.

Clark State Community College hosted the college’s 56th annual Charter Night on February 20. The annual event serves to remind the college and community about the founding of Clark State, celebrated through the establishment of the charter to operate as a post-secondary institution in the region. Staff, faculty and community were recognized for years of service, diversity and inclusion and professional excellence.

Clark State, Mercy Health Sign Letter of Intent for New Health Clinic

Clark State Community College and Mercy Health have entered into a Letter of Intent, outlining Mercy Health’s intention to open a new health clinic on Clark State’s Springfield campus on Leffel Lane in the spring of 2019. It is anticipated that the new health clinic will be located in the Applied Science Center and will serve as the primary medical care facility for Clark State students, faculty, staff and the community at large. It will also likely be used for student clinical experiences and internships.
