Clark State Will Host Mobile Food Pantry for Students, Community Each Month

Clark State Community College will begin hosting the Second Harvest Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry on a monthly basis. Former Clark State student and Wittenberg graduate Melissa Archambeau serves as coordinator of the Mobile Food Pantry which was on Clark State’s campus for a trial-run in October. With no advertising for the event, they served 48 families, a total of 161 individuals.

Clark State to Receive Student Completion Grant from Great Lakes

Clark State Community College has been selected to receive a second grant from the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation. The first grant was awarded in 2015 and is being used to address student financial emergency situations. The second grant, in the amount of $199,643, will be used for student completion programs offered through the College.

Clark State Will Honor Veterans, Named Top School by MAE&T

Clark State Community College will commemorate Veterans Day with various campus activities including the display of 2,000 United States flags on the Leffel Lane campus, the Greene Center campus in Beavercreek and the Bellefontaine campus. The POW/MIA flag will also be erected on the flag pole of the Leffel Lane campus.

Clark State Community College welcomes the highly acclaimed Broadway musical RENT to the Performing Arts Center for one night only as part of the show’s 20th Anniversary Tour. RENT, an original rock musical composed by Johnathan Larson, opened in 1996 and has been awarded a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award®.

Clark State to Hold Phi Theta Kappa Induction Ceremony

Alpha Nu Lambda, Clark State Community College’s chapter of the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), will hold a fall induction ceremony at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 8 at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center in downtown Springfield. More than 30 students have accepted the invitation this fall to join PTK—the world’s largest honor society for two-year college students.

Clark State Cybersecurity Program Named Center of Academic Excellence

The Cybersecurity/Information Assurance associate degree program at Clark State Community College has been named a Center of Academic Excellence 2-Year (CAE2Y) education for 2017. The CAE2Y designation is awarded by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and CyberWatch. The CAE2Y designation recognizes the quality of Clark State’s Cybersecurity/Information Assurance program.

Clark State Community College will hold a luncheon on November 1 to welcome 46 new inductees of the 2016 Champion City Scholars program. This is the 13th class of students selected for the Champion City Scholars program. The Clark State Foundation offers the CCS students the option of a free college education at Clark State.

Clark State Theatre Arts Program Presents Conclusion to Angels in America

The Clark State Community College Theatre Arts program will present the highly accredited Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, Part II – Perestroika by American playwright Tony Kushner. Angels in America, Part II will be at the Clark State Performing Arts Center, Turner Studio Theater on October 28, 29, 30, November 4, 5 and 6. Tickets are free for Clark State students with a student ID.

Arts Alive Welcomes Kennedy Center Teaching Artist Glenis Redmond to Springfield

Arts Alive will welcome award-winning poet and Kennedy Center teaching artist Glenis Redmond to Springfield as part of the 2016-17 Arts Alive season. While in Springfield, Redmond will conduct workshops with Project Jericho teens in the after school and juvenile detention center programs. She is also offering a master class for students in the Early Childhood Education program, along with invited Head Start teachers.

Clark State to Host 9th Volley for the Cure to Raise Breast Cancer Funds, Awareness

Clark State Community College will host the 9th annual Volley for the Cure on Wednesday, October 26 in the gymnasium on the Leffel Lane campus. Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. Teams from Clark State, Bobby Fisher Distributing and The Assurant Group will participate in Volley for the Cure. All monies raised are donated to the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark County.
