Nine Students to Graduate from First Community Leadership Course at Clark State

Nine students will graduate from the Building Leaders to Build Community (BLBC) course May 20 at the Clark State Sara T. Landess Technology and Learning Center. The BLBC courses were held at Clark State in partnership with the Ohio Air National Guard, the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney's office, Clark County Job & Family Services, the City of Springfield and the Springfield Promise Neighborhood.

Clark State Will Offer Online Insurance Degree and Certificate

Clark State is taking the lead in bridging the insurance industry employment gap. A 2013 study identified that Ohio insurance companies will need to hire 26,000 new workers by 2020. Clark State is the only college in Ohio to offer an associate degree in Business Management with an Insurance Option. This fall Clark State will become the first college in Ohio to offer an online Insurance Certificate that can be completed with a series of six online courses.

Clark State Will Open a Lounge for Military Veteran Students

Clark State Community College will add a veterans lounge to the many services offered to students who are veterans of the United States Military. Clark State was recently named a Purple Heart Campus and also offers veterans and active military priority registration for classes.

Clark State Tuition Challenge Program Approved by Ohio Board of Regents

The Ohio Board of Regents announced today its approval of Clark State Community College’s Tuition Challenge Program. The program will waive standard tuition rates to students who complete 12 or more credit hours in a semester, achieve a grade of C or better in each course, and enroll in the successive semester for 12 or more credit hours.

Clark State Honors Champion City Scholars Class of 2015

Clark State Community College will recognize 40 Champion City Scholars at a reception to be held in their honor at the Brinkman Educational Center on May 5. The reception begins at 5 p.m. and is open to the class of 2015 Scholars and their families. These Scholars will graduate from Springfield High School this spring with the majority starting Clark State this fall.

Clark State Humanities Colloquium Planned for Friday

Clark State Community College will host a humanities colloquium on “Gender and Justice” on Friday, April 24 in LRC, Room 207-209 on the Leffel Lane Campus in Springfield. The event begins at 3 p.m. “We particularly hope that Clark State faculty, staff and students will take advantage of this opportunity, but the public is welcome to attend as well.”

Clark State STEM School to Offer Food Science Degree

The Clark State Community College Agriculture Department will offer a new course of study in Food Science and Technology beginning in the fall semester of this year. Students will receive an Associate of Applied Science and will have a transfer pathway option to The Ohio State University upon completion and graduation.

Clark State Will Host College Awareness Event at Greene Center Campus, Beavercreek

Clark State Community College will host a college awareness event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 18 at the Greene Center Campus, 3775 Pentagon Boulevard, Beavercreek. Clark State offers more than 120 degrees and certificates. Ronald Gordon, director of student services said this is the first event of this kind at the Clark State Greene Center Campus.

Clark State Board of Trustees Approves Tuition Challenge Program

The Clark State Board of Trustees approved a motion to implement a Tuition Challenge Program which could save full-time students up to ten percent on tuition costs. Pending approval by the Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents, the program will be available beginning with the Fall 2015 Semester.

Plato and Tina Pavlatos to Receive Founder’s Award

Plato and Tina Pavlatos of Springfield will receive the prestigious Founder’s Award at Clark State Community College’s Circle of Friends Gala. The Gala will be held Friday, April 24 at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center, 275 South Fountain Avenue in downtown Springfield.
