Project Jericho will be creating up to twelve hanging flower baskets that will be installed on light poles this summer around City Plaza in downtown Springfield. The baskets are unique because they won’t need watering, and they won’t cost the city any money. These unique flower baskets will be made out of recycled materials during Project Jericho’s Summer Arts Camp June 20-24.

The Clark State Performing Arts Center will feature more than a dozen performances during the 2016-17 season, which kicks off Friday, September 23 with a Club Kuss presentation of Shotgun Wedding. The Performing Arts Center is once again partnering with the Springfield Arts Council for the three Broadway performances featured this season, including: Rent, Once and Pippin. Karlton Clayborne, interim athletic director at Clark State, said Gaines will bring enthusiasm and motivation to the Clark State Eagles. “He wants the student athletes to develop and be strong women and role models, and be the best person they can be.”

Speedway LLC will be this year’s recipient of the prestigious Clark State Founder’s Award at the Circle of Friends Celebration to be held Friday, May 13 at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center, 275 South Fountain Avenue in downtown Springfield. Speedway was selected as this year’s Founder’s Award recipient by previous honorees.

Dr. David W. Miller, Ph.D., professor of biology and geology at Clark State Community College, has been recognized as a 2016 Believe in Ohio STEM Exemplar by the Ohio Academy of Science; an honor bestowed on just 81 people in the state. Miller began teaching General Biology and Geology, Meteorology and Astronomy and Ohio Field Geology courses at Clark State in 1995.

More than 500 candidates for graduation will receive their degree or certificate of completion. Rebecca Ryan will be the student speaker at the Commencement ceremony.
