Clark State Approved by Community College of the Air Force as GEM Partner School

Clark State Community College has been approved by the Community College of the Air Force as a General Education Mobile (GEM) partner. Clark State is the first community college in Ohio to receive this approval. CCAF students are able to search GEM school partners and register for classes online via the Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) portal.

Clark State Honors 133 Adjunct Faculty for Years of Service

Clark State Community College recognized more than 130 adjunct faculty members for their years of service at a gathering held August 19 at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center. Shashi Chadha was recognized for her service as an adjunct instructor for Clark State for 35 years.

Clark State and Wright State to Dedicate New Pedestrian Bridge Joining Beavercreek Campuses

Clark State Community College and Wright State University will celebrate continued joint efforts toward student success and accessibility with a dedication ceremony for a newly constructed pedestrian bridge, further connecting the higher learning institutions. The pedestrian bridge will connect the Clark State Greene Center campus with the Wright State University campus, both located in Beavercreek, Ohio. The dedication ceremony will be held on Friday, August 28 at 2 p.m.

Blondin Marks Two-Year Anniversary with Clark State

Although she doesn’t yet have pictures hung on the walls of her house, Dr. Jo Alice Blondin has now called Springfield, Ohio, “home” for two years. On July 1 of 2013, Blondin began her tenure as president of Clark State Community College, having made the move from Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus where she served as chancellor and professor of English for seven years.

Clark State Community College Begins Flying UAS for Precision Agriculture

Clark State Community College has initiated flying Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) as part of their new precision agriculture program. The new program is designed to prepare students for employment with companies using geospatial technologies, including geographic information systems (GIS) and global positioning systems (GPS) applied to agricultural production or management activities, such as pest scouting, site-specific pesticide application, yield mapping or variable-rate irrigation.

Clark State Theatre Arts Sets Audition Dates, Will Offer Free Student Tickets

The Clark State Theatre Arts Program will present two theatre productions during the 2015-16 academic year. Laughter on the 23rd Floor by Neil Simon will be presented in the Turner Studio Theatre of the Clark State Performing Arts Center on November 19, 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. and November 21 and 22 at 2 p.m. Auditions will be held at 7 p.m., September 8 and 9.

Short-Term Technical Certificates Now Offered at Clark State

The Ohio Department of Higher Education (formerly the Ohio Board of Regents) has approved 24 certificates of study as Short-Term Technical Certificates at Clark State Community College. These certificates are less than the full one-year technical certificates currently available. The Short-Term Technical Certificates can be earned in less than 30 semester credit hours.

Clark State Holds Summer Cybersecurity Intern Showcase

Clark State Community College will hold a Summer Cybersecurity Intern Showcase from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Wednesday, August 5 at the Clark State Greene Center Campus. Eleven Clark State students engaged in research and hands-on cybersecurity work projects and a three-day "Hack Fest" where they gained first-hand experience defending systems against hackers.

Stansbury Transitions to Clark State Women’s Head Basketball Coach

Assistant coach for the Clark State Community College women’s basketball team, Stefan Stansbury, has been appointed interim head coach for the Lady Eagles team for the 2015-16 season. Stansbury will fill the shoes of former head coach Markell Cox who has accepted the position of assistant coach for the women’s basketball team and head coach of the women’s golf team at Urbana University.

Former Clark State Student Shines Spotlight on Others. Literally.

Former Clark State Community College student Ryan Knox says the most challenging part of being in the entertainment industry is “waiting your turn.” On June 30 of this year, it was Knox’s turn to land his dream job. Knox, a graduate of Springfield High School, is now a follow-spot operator and technician with the Cirque du Soleil show KÁ in Las Vegas, Nevada.
